Odalys Arevalo and Mercedes Cabrera Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award by South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Sunshine Life & Health Advisors co-founders and “Godmothers of Insurance” recognized for extraordinary contributions to the Hispanic community
IRVINE, CA — Odalys Arevalo and Mercedes Cabrera, co-founders of , were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the at the 21st Annual Women Empowering & Embracing Women Awards. Known as Las Madrinas de Los Seguros (The Godmothers of Insurance), Arevalo and Cabrera were celebrated for their exceptional contributions and unwavering dedication to the Hispanic community. Sunshine was acquired by 鶹ӳ Services in 2023 and is part of Alliant Consumer Group, which houses the company’s growing portfolio of consumer-facing operations.

Arevalo and Cabrera founded Sunshine in 2013 with a focus on helping members of the Hispanic community understand and enroll in Affordable Care Act (ACA) health plans. Together, they built Sunshine into one of the nation’s largest Field Marketing Organizations (FMOs) serving more than a quarter of a million members in Florida, Texas, and throughout the United States.
“We founded our organization with the goal of helping members of our community by providing access to opportunities they didn’t know existed,” said Arevalo. “This honor exemplifies our dedication to serving as a vital resource to communities in South Florida and across the U.S.” Cabrera added, “We are truly honored to serve as a voice for our communities and look forward to continuing our mission of service as we look to the future.”
At the heart of Sunshine’s mission is Las Madrinas de Los Seguros, an altruistic initiative that provides extensive resources and services to Hispanic communities across a range of locations. With the motto “We Care & You Count,” Las Madrinas functions as an “insurance university,” training thousands of Hispanic professionals to create and nurture careers in insurance. Las Madrinas also actively serves local communities through a broad range of services such as a “Health Caravan,” food distribution, toy giveaways, and relief efforts during natural disasters.
Recognized as one of the nation’s most influential Hispanic chambers of commerce, the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was established in 1994 to promote leadership, create economic prospects, and provide legislative advocacy for the Hispanic business community in South Florida.
